On August 21, the 55-millionth ton of steel was melted in the electric steel-making shop No.1 of OJSC “BMZ” - the management company of the “BMK” holding. It took the plant almost 35 years to produce such a volume of metal.
The “Jubilee” ton of steel is 21.08. at 03.40, it was carried out by the brigade No. 2, working at the arc furnace No. 1. The achievement of the milestone became possible thanks to the well-coordinated work of the entire team and the results of constant technical re-equipment of the enterprise. By the way, in 2013-2018 alone, BMZ invested nearly a billion dollars in the construction, reconstruction and modernization of the existing production. Over the past years, close attention has been paid to the main production - electric arc furnace .
According to operational data for 7 months of 2019, the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant produced more than 1.5 million tons of steel, which is almost 12% more than in the same period of 2018. More than 83% of the steel produced after processing in rolling and hardware shops is exported to 63 countries of the world.
The first millionth ton of steel at BMZ was produced in September 1986, in 2007 Zhlobin metallurgists crossed the 25 million tons, in 2017 - 50 million, and two years later the 55 millionth ton of Belarusian steel was smelted. It is important to note that the plant has grown over its 35-year history not only in volumes, but also in quality and assortment: at present, BMZ can produce about 650 steel grades. 26 of them were mastered this year. These are brands primarily intended for the automotive industry and the manufacture of bearings.
