Ford plans massive staff cuts in Europe
American auto giant Ford has announced a significant reduction in staff in Europe. According to the plans of the European dealership of Ford, released on Thursday, June 27, 12,000 jobs on the continent will be cut. The company also plans to completely close certain production facilities in Europe.
According to the plan of the Ford management, by the end of 2020 the number of European car plants of the company should be reduced by six units - to 18, according to the official website of the company. In particular, it is planned to close car factories in Russia, France, Great Britain. But the automobile plant Ford in Slovakia wants to sell the auto concern. Manufacturing facilities in Germany will not be closed, but their staff will be significantly reduced, according to the message.
The company previously made no secret of plans to cut 5.4 thousand jobs in Germany alone. Ford says it is in talks with workers to mitigate the impact of the optimization on those caught up in this wave. Ford also promises to pursue a sustainable strategy for its European business in the future.
2018 Ford European dealership suffered significant losses. However, this year the company managed to improve the situation, so the management expects by the end of this year for "significant improvement " of financial results in Europe.
