Ukrainian metallurgists summed up the results of the industry in the first half of 2021
According to the updated data of the OP "Ukrmetallurgprom", in January-June 2021, metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine produced:
- agglomerate - 16.96 million tons (107.8% versus January-June 2020);
- gross coke (6% ownership) - 4.92 million tons (102.2%);
- pig iron - 10.77 million tons (108.0%);
- steel - 10.86 million tons (107.4%);
- rolled stock - 9.63 million tons (106.6%);
- pipe products - 0.48 million tons (117.4%).
As of July 12, 2021, of the main operating production facilities, 19 out of 21 blast furnaces, 7 out of 8 open-hearth furnaces, 14 out of 16 converters, 5 out of 15 electric furnaces and 16 out of 17 continuous casting machines are in operation.
Provision of production with basic raw materials and energy resources
Iron ore raw materials:
Provision of metallurgical enterprises with Ukrainian iron ore raw materials in January-June 2021 was carried out in accordance with the needs of metallurgical production. Iron ore was not imported by import.
Exports of iron ore for 6 months of 2021 amounted to 22.44 million tons (97.0% compared to the same period in 2020).
Coking Coals:
For 6 months of 2021, 6.66 million tons of coking coal were supplied to Ukrainian coke-chemical enterprises (102.1% compared to January-June 2020), of which:
- Ukrainian origin - 1.97 million tons (109.3% compared to the same period in 2020);
- imported - 4.69 million tons (99.3% compared to January-June 2020).
The share of imported coals in the total supply in January-June 2021 amounted to 70.5% against 72.4% in the same period in 2020.
Cox:
The total volume of coke produced by metallurgists in 6 months of 2021 amounted to 4.148 million tons (103.5% compared to the same period in 2020), of which:
- of Ukrainian origin 4.019 million tons (100.6% compared to the same period in 2020).
- imported - 0.129 million tons (860% compared to January-June 2020)
The share of imported coke in the total supply volume for 6 months of 2021 amounted to 3.11% against 0.37% in January-June 2020.
Imported scrap metal:
In January-June 2021, 1,872 thousand tons of scrap metal were procured (141.3% compared to the same period in 2020), of which 1,641 thousand tons (125.5% against January-June 2020) were supplied to Ukrainian consumers as imported.
Exports of scrap metal in January-June 2021 amounted to 231 thousand tons (1375% compared to the same period in 2020).
