Hyundai Steel launches steel literacy program for youth
Hyundai Steel has launched a children's education program at an indoor playground in Seoul, the Hyundai Motor Group Steel Center said Monday. A South Korean metal manufacturer said that kids will be able to play professional steelworkers in the KidZania mini-theme park.
“We decided to launch the program at the KidZania branch in Seoul to provide young members with an opportunity to learn more about steel products and how they are used in building construction and the automotive industry,” the company said.
This is the first attempt in the country by an industrial firm to create a special gaming center, which allows laying the foundations of steel literacy.
At the center, children can see and hold samples of iron ore and coal, the main materials used in steel products, as well as learn how automotive steel sheets are made and how earthquake-resistant steel products are then used in construction. >
Hyundai Steel also uses projection mapping, a tool for projecting 3D images onto surfaces, for greater clarity.
“Children usually know nothing about the steel industry, so we try to use the latest visual technologies such as projection mapping to keep them interested,” the company said. “We hope this way children can better understand how steel products can improve safety in the world around them.”
Hyundai Steel is also working to increase brand awareness of its steel products. In 2017, the company launched the H CORE brand, which is the first brand for earthquake-resistant steel, and in April introduced its automotive sheet steel under the H Solution brand.
