Explosion at Tata Steel plant in India at coke battery
Three employees of the Indian steel company Tata Steel were injured in a gas explosion at the Jamshedpur coke oven battery.
According to a company representative, the explosion occurred around 10:20 local time, and the injured employees were hospitalized at Tata General Hospital.
"Three employees were injured when a contaminated gas pipeline exploded at a malfunctioning coke oven battery No. 6 at the company's Jamshedpur plant," he said.
The explosion caused panic among the employees, who rushed in all directions. It is reported that one of the employees received minor injuries after falling to the ground.
Currently, Battery No. 6 of the Tata Steel plant in Jamshedpur is not in operation and is in the process of being dismantled.
Earlier it was reported that Tata Steel decided to completely abandon the purchase of Russian coal, including for coke production.
