New Volvo design center opens in Shanghai
Volvo's new design center opened in Shanghai on Wednesday, becoming one of the group's three global design centres.
Just like Volvo Cars' head office in Gothenburg, the Shanghai office has everything you need for the entire process design: from concept to production, the company said.
The 5,500-square-meter center boasts a fully-equipped work studio with milling machines, 3D printers and other equipment for more precise and efficient production than ever before. or. Center workers can also take full advantage of VR technology by designing in the virtual world.
“New facilities and the latest technology will help strengthen collaboration between our three design centers around the world as we continue to bring out Volvo Cars designs to a new level,” said Jeremy Offer, global head of design at Volvo Cars.
The company said the opening of a design center in Shanghai, along with the establishment of a China R&D center, plants in Chengdu, Daqing and Taizhou, will strengthen the company's strategic investment and long-term development in China.
