Technological progress achieved in China's hydrogen energy industry - experts
China's hydrogen energy research institutes and enterprises have made progress in both the development of innovative technologies and their implementation, thus helping to build the potential for the commercial use of this source of clean energy in the future. This was stated by specialists participating in the Zhongguancun 2023 forum, which is currently taking place in Beijing.
According to Sun Baigang from Beijing Polytechnic University, setting the trend in international technological developments, hydrogen energy is one of the best ways to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and the advent of the hydrogen internal combustion engine opens up new opportunities for development.
As the scientist noted on Friday at the sub-forum on storage of new types of energy and the industrial development of hydrogen energy, the hydrogen internal combustion engine combustion has already passed the initial stage of development, and researchers are working to make it more powerful and efficient, while maintaining the advantage of completely zero harmful emissions.
According to the CEO of Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical, a petrochemical company Company Qu Hongliang, the company is rapidly building a hydrogen purification plant for fuel cells. The design capacity of the plant will be 10,000 normal cubic meters per hour.
Qu Hongliang added that after commissioning, the plant will produce 20 tons of hydrogen for fuel cells per day, which is enough to ensure the operation of 1,500 buses.
According to him, the company is currently developing a catalyst and a proton-exchange membrane, as well as other materials and equipment for the production of hydrogen by electrolysis of water.
More than 300 participants took part in the sub-forum people, including specialists in the storage of new types of energy and hydrogen energy, as well as representatives of Chinese and foreign enterprises, industry associations and investment organizations.
