Scrap shortage hinders the growth of secondary aluminum production in China
In October, Chinese secondary aluminum producers continued to increase production amid rising demand for metals in the second half of the year.
SMM Survey showed that operational indicators for secondary aluminium producers in China increased to 61,52% in October. This is a 0.83 percentage point more than in September and by 4.71 percentage points higher than the October 2018.
However, growth in operating performance was limited because of the continuing shortage of aluminum scrap impact on the production at some refineries.
In November, a greater impact of the shortage of scrap due to low stocks are likely to impact on the operating results of secondary aluminum producers, despite expectations stable orders for processing.
