The index of steel prices in China rose in April compared with March, but fell compared with the same period last year

In April this year, the Chinese price index (PPI< / span>) producers of steel and rolled ferrous metals fell by 7.3 percent year-on-year. Compared to March, it increased by 3.4 percentage points. In March PPI steel industry of China fell 3.9 percent, according to data released by the National Bureau of statistics of China (NBS), on 12 may.

At the same time there is growth of prices on the steel market (both for long and flat products) in the first half of may in connection with the improvement of consumption.

Total producer price index in China decreased by 3.1 percent year-on-year in April and fell by 1.3 percent on a monthly basis.

In April, the purchasing prices of Chinese industrial producers decreased by 3.8 percent year on year and decreased by 2.3 percent compared to March of this year.

For the first four months 2020 total producer price index in China slipped 1.2 percent year-on-year.
