Czech automaker Skoda to produce electric vehicles in Vietnam

Czech automaker Skoda plans to expand its factory in Vietnam's northern province of Quang Ninh to begin production of electric vehicles and components in 2026, the Nikkei reported, citing the Vietnamese Ministry of Commerce.

The Volkswagen—owned brand is currently assembling models with internal combustion engines — the Slavia sedan and the Kushaq SUV - but is looking to increase localization and eventually export the vehicles to neighboring Laos.

The Quang Ninh plant enjoys government land-use benefits and import duties, reflecting Vietnam's broader efforts to attract foreign investment in electric vehicle production.
