GAC enters the British electric vehicle market amid increased European expansion
GAC officially entered the British market for new-energy vehicles, starting its operations in the UK on May 28 with the brand's presentation in London and the opening of the flagship AION Auto UK showroom, Gasgoo reports. The move is part of the Chinese automaker's broader internationalization strategy and positions the UK as a key pillar of its European expansion, underpinned by the country's mature automotive ecosystem, developed consumer base and accelerated transition to electrified mobility.
GAC demonstrated the AION V, one of its flagship global models, and introduced the "Aion Great 8" service package for owners, offering up to eight years of support in areas such as warranty, scheduled maintenance, roadside assistance, and technical inspection services. UK operations will be developed through the GAC joint venture with ALJ International, whose chairman Fadi Jamil stressed a long-term commitment to sustainable growth rather than short-term volumes. The GAC stated that the UK business will receive continued investment, Global resources and management focused on local needs.
The company aims to achieve one million annual sales abroad by 2030 and plans to offer European customers a wide range of electric vehicles, including electric vehicles, PHEVs and hybrids. She also highlighted Euro NCAP's five-star security objectives, connected digital cabins, multilingual interfaces, voice interaction, OTA updates, and robust data protection and regulatory compliance systems.
