Turkey car sales up 92.8% y /y in March

Sales of passenger cars and LCVs in Turkey rose 92.8% in March to 96,428 units, the country's Automotive Distributors Association said Friday.

According to the association, sales rose 59.7% from January to March over the same period last year.

The jump was supported by campaigns for low interest rate sales in March and consumers' drive to buy cars before the weakening lira affects prices, said Erol Sahin, director of automotive marketing consultancy EBS.

Sales declined last March due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, and only 50,008 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold, according to the association.
