Car sales in Turkey fell by 6.7% in January-July
According to monthly statistics released by the Turkish Association of Automobile Manufacturers (OSD), car sales in Turkey totaled 55,324 units in July this year, up 11.2% year on year. In the same month, passenger car sales in Turkey were 41,031 units, up 13.0% from last year. Meanwhile, between January and July this year, car sales in Turkey were 430,929 units, down 6.7% year on year.
In the first seven months of this year, Turkish car exports totaled 526,601 units, up 2.7%, while passenger car exports fell 7.7% to 298,333 units year on year. During the same period, the country exported 192,662 small trucks, up 21.7% from last year. During the period, revenue from total exports of automobiles and components rose by 5.1% to $17.56 billion, while revenues from exports of passenger cars amounted to $4.99 billion, down 7.1% year on year.
In July, Turkey's total car imports stood at 28,898 units, up 1.2% year on year, while passenger car imports stood at 23,327 units, up 2.2% year on year. In January-July this year, the total import of cars into the country amounted to 236,519 units, a decrease of 9.3%, while imports of passenger cars amounted to 193,134 units, a decrease of 7.4% compared to the same period in 2021.
