Young Germans dream of working in the automotive industry
Young German professionals with higher education prefer to work in the automotive industry, consulting and software development. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by Trendence Institute analysts to create an annual ranking of popular employers "Young Professionals Barometer 2019 ", DW reports.
Researchers in Germany interviewed more than 20.5 thousand university graduates with work experience of about four and a half years. The average age of the respondents is 30 years. A little more than a third of them have a bachelor's degree, about 40 percent - a master's degree, another 15 percent - specialists.
According to the research, BMW remains the most popular employer among the respondents. In second place is Bosch, a supplier of automotive and industrial technology, while three other well-known automakers - Audi, Daimler and Porsche - come next. And this is despite the economic downturn in the German automotive industry.
In the first half of 2019, car production in Germany decreased by 12%, sales - by 14% (after a fall of four percent at the end of last year). Daimler AG suffered a loss of $ 1.8 billion in the second quarter; Audi has sold 4.5% less cars since the beginning of the year than in 2018.
According to PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) Autofacts, registrations of new cars in Europe this year fell by 1.9% in the EU as a whole. According to PwC forecasts, by the end of 2019, 15.3 million new cars will be sold in the EU. And this is the biggest drop in the past few years.
Nevertheless, analysts believe that the current downturn is temporary. And literally from 2020, according to PwC experts, a small but steady growth in car sales will begin.
PwC predicts that in 2025, the ten largest global automotive manufacturers in the European market will look like this: Volkswagen Group - 5.6 million cars, PSA Group - 3.3 million cars, RNM Group - 2.3 million cars, Daimler - 2 million cars, BMW - 2 million cars, FCA - 1.6 million cars, Ford - 1 million cars, JLR-Tata - 0.7 million cars, Hyundai - 0.6 million cars, Volvo-Geely 0.6 million auto.
