Iberdrola supplies renewable energy to Tubos Reunidos
Spanish seamless pipe supplier Tubos Reunidos (TR) has signed a long-term Electricity Purchase agreement (EIT) with Iberdrola to power its production facilities in Alava and Biscay for renewable energy, Kallanish learns from the energy supplier.
Under the agreement, Iberdrola will deliver 120 GWh of electricity, derived from a nearly 10 MW solar photovoltaic portfolio, to support the production of low-emission sealing gaskets following seamless steel pipes.
"We have an ongoing improvement process involving the entire organization to ensure that our processes and products become more sustainable," says Chief Executive Officer Carlos Lopez. "This agreement advances our strategy to decarbonize industry, create an environmentally friendly value chain, and support climate neutrality."
Iberdrola notes that the partnership highlights its role in electrifying the industry by helping TR implement and scale sustainable seamless pipe solutions.
"Iberdrola España and Tubos Reunidos Group share a strong commitment to building a more sustainable and efficient future," comments David Martinez, Director of Customer Relations at Iberdrola. "Such cooperation is key to supporting the development of renewable energy sources and accelerating the transition to energy in the industrial sector."
Tubos Reunidos has become the world's first manufacturer of seamless pipes with zero CO₂ emissions, having already produced 2,000 tons of the next product for customers in Europe and the USA (see "Callanish passim").
