LESS appoints Carmen Ostwald as General Secretary

The Brussels-based LESS (Low-Emission Steel Standard) organization has announced the appointment of Carmen Ostwald as its new general secretary, Kallanish notes.

Ostwald will replace Martin Theuringer. "Over the past few years, the German Steel Association has worked tirelessly with member companies to implement standards for low-emission steel," says Thuringer. "Carmen Ostwald is exactly the right person for this task, and I wish her every success and all the best."

In a press release, LESS says that Ostwald has extensive experience in the European steel industry and a strong professional network, without giving details of his professional background. She previously worked at Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe for 17 years, and most recently served as Head of Business Development at bluemint Steel, a low-emission steel company.

"I aim to strengthen LESS's recognition among steel producers, the consumer sector, and policy makers. Together, we will lay the foundation for creating leading markets for low-emission steel," says Ostwald.
