Metso is considering the possibility of abandoning the loading and unloading business in Finland and Sweden
Metso Outotec Corporation, a leading global supplier of engineering and technology with headquarters in Finland, announced that it is considering the possibility of abandoning its loading and unloading operations in Finland and Sweden.
This strategic step corresponds to a broader range of company objectives. The goal is to focus on scalable and financially sustainable key segments.
Strategic reorientation may affect 110 jobs
According to the company, the loading and unloading segment, which mainly specializes in the production of truck bodies, buckets and tools for mining and aggregating, may be sold to a third-party organization. If a suitable buyer is not found, the business may be phased out.
This restructuring may affect approximately 110 employees in the divisions located in Kokkola and Kalajoki, Finland, and Luleå, Sweden. Consultations have already begun in both countries in accordance with local labor laws.
"The best return can be achieved under the new owner"
Metso stated that this decision is part of its commitment to increase long-term business profitability and global scalability. The company believes that the loading and unloading segment has future potential, but this potential can be better exploited under a new owner.
"We believe that the value of the business and the future potential can be best realized under the new owner. We will actively work to identify stakeholders," the company said in an official statement.
