NORDWEST is building a new large logistics center in Alsfeld
NORDWEST Handel AG has announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art logistics center in Alsfeld, Hesse. The construction, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2026, will become one of the largest and most modern central warehouses in the Professional trade (PVH) sector.
The Alsfeld complex, which covers 68,000 m2 of retail space on a total area of 135,000 m2, will significantly expand the capabilities of NORDWEST's growing European network of affiliated retail partners. Designed as a multi-user warehouse, it will allow wholesalers, manufacturers and suppliers to flexibly and efficiently outsource logistics functions, including direct deliveries to customers throughout Germany and Europe.
The new center will be equipped with advanced automation technologies, including a highly automated workshop for the production of small parts. A storage system (170,000 container storage spaces), 50,000 pallet spaces, and advanced solutions for handling bulky cargo and hazardous materials. NORDWEST is also investing in next-generation packaging and robotics to ensure efficiency, scalability, and sustainability. The facility must receive a DGNB gold certificate for sustainable construction.
The Alsfeld logistics center, capable of handling up to 11,000 cartons and 1,000 pallets per day, will provide NORDWEST partners with higher productivity, product availability and cost-effective services. Work will begin in stages from 2026, and the full commissioning of all automated systems is scheduled for early 2027.
