Rainer Beze becomes head of ArcelorMittal in Germany

Rainer Beze has been appointed as the new CEO of ArcelorMittal Germany in addition to his position as Chairman of the Management Board at the group's two strip plants in Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt.

He replaced Thomas Buenger, who previously held the same position. Callanish learns that he left the company in May.

The 57-year-old Bese has held various positions at ArcelorMittal. Most recently, from 2017 to May of this year, he was responsible for working with industrial customers in Northern Europe in the flat rolled products division of the ArcelorMittal Europe Group as Marketing Director.

Despite the fact that ArcelorMittal recently discontinued its plans to switch to direct reductions in Germany, Buenger mentioned in his inaugural remarks that "the next step will be to switch to climate-neutral steel production." This will only be possible if politicians act in such a way as to provide steelmakers with affordable energy, he added.
