Fos-sur-Mer redirects orders and plans temporary restart of production

ArcelorMittal is redirecting some orders to other plants in France to minimize the impact on customers. As it became known to Callanish, after a fire in October, which led to a complete shutdown of production at the plant in Fos-sur—Mer, the company purchased slabs on the side in order to fulfill its supply obligations by the end of the year.

According to the company, the blast furnace and the steelmaking workshop are currently closed, while the planned downtime of the sintering line is being extended.

The coke plant runs on its own gas, and the conveyor, refinement lines, and logistics handle and ship existing stocks.

Currently, crews at the construction site are focused on dismantling and repairing damaged sections. "Based on the analysis results and delivery dates, the steel mill is scheduled to restart in early December in a temporary mode. The timing of the return to a full-fledged normal mode of operation is being clarified," the report says.

According to market sources, Fos-sur —Mer will resume production in full by January, although the company has not confirmed this.

During this period, managers will allocate staff according to the condition of the installations and the needs of the restoration work. In businesses that are still closed, employees will spend 50% of their time on activities such as maintenance, updating instructions, improvements, and training, and 50% on downtime.
