Steel service centers in the EU have recorded an increase in supplies amid ongoing inventory reductions in 2025

EUROMETAL's latest SSC market monitoring report shows that during the first nine months of 2025, European Steel Service Centers (SSC) experienced moderate supply growth, while inventories continued to decline significantly across the continent.

In the period from January to September 2025, shipments of strip products in the 27 EU countries increased by 0.5% year-on-year, with an increase of 11.1% in September alone, indicating an improvement in production activity. At the same time, SSC stocks in the 27 EU countries decreased by 6.2% over a nine-month period, reflecting cautious inventory management despite strengthening demand.

Higher rates were recorded in the AT–DE–NIL–BE region, where shipments increased by 1.4% year-on-year in January-September 2025 and by 10.8% in September.

In nine months, stocks in this key industrial region decreased by 10.9%, indicating a steady decline in stocks in Northern Continental Europe.

Growing supplies, combined with stable inventory levels, indicate that European service centers are cautiously adjusting to recovering demand.
