Steel production in Italy continues to grow

Crude steel production in Italy increased again in October after a sharp increase in previous months, the industry association Federacciai said in a statement obtained by Kallanish.

According to Federacciai, production in October increased by 2.2% year-on-year to 1.9 million tons. The volume of production in the first ten months of this year also increased by 3.1% year-on-year to 17.5 million tons.

"The production of long-length hot-rolled products continues to grow while the production of flat rolled products decreased over the month although there is still a general increase in both categories since the beginning of the year," says Federacci.

Production of flat rolled products decreased by 2.6% to 779,000 tons in October, but increased by 4.7% to 7.5 million tons in January-October. Meanwhile, the volume of long-rolled products increased by 11.6% in October to 1.2 million tons and by 4.4% to 10.4 million tons in January-October.

This year, only in February and June, there was a slight overall decline in production.

In recent years, Italian production has decreased by 5% year-on-year in 2024 to 19.9 million tons, by 2.5% in 2023 to 21 million tons and by 11.5% in 2022 to 21.6 million tons.
