Prices for Polish fittings decreased slightly due to regulatory uncertainty and sluggish demand

Steel rebar prices in Poland dropped slightly in the week to Friday, November 28, as the market prepares for the introduction of the EU Carbon Border Regulation Mechanism (CBAM) and the prospect of higher scrap metal prices in 2026, Fastmarkets sources said.

Steel rebar prices in Poland dropped slightly during the week to Friday, November 28, while the market was preparing for the introduction of the EU Carbon Border Regulation Mechanism (CBAM) and the prospect of higher scrap metal prices in 2026, Fastmarkets sources said.

"Right now, we don't know what will happen to CBAM or how much importers will have to pay at the border," said one distributor, adding that the increase in scrap prices would also lead to "slow price increases" from January.

During the week until Friday, estimates of an acceptable price level for rebar were announced at the level of 2420-2450 zlotys (662-670 dollars) per ton without VAT, while some offers were about 2450-2480 zlotys per ton without VAT, as in the previous week.

But it was also reported about the purchase of more than 1,000 tons of rebar at a lower price - 2380 zloty per ton of CPT during the week.

Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for steel rebar in the domestic market, cpt Poland, on Friday was 2 380-2 450 zlotys per ton, an increase of 40 zlotys compared to 2 420-2 450 zlotys per ton a week earlier.

Meanwhile, wire rod prices remained stable during the week.

During the week up to Friday, achievable levels were reported at around 2600-2650 zlotys per tonne of CPT, as in the previous week.

The weekly price estimate for steel rod (drawing quality) supplied to Poland, according to Fastmarkets, was 2600-2650 zlotys per ton on Friday, unchanged week to week.
