Weak demand keeps prices for Polish rolled products at the same level; holiday lull

Prices for steel rebar and wire rod in Poland remained unchanged during the week until Friday, December 12, while Fastmarkets reported that prices were "unchanged" due to low demand and a "quiet" market before the holidays.

According to market sources, higher scrap prices and the introduction of new trade rules, including the EU Carbon Boundary Regulation Mechanism (CBAM), may contribute to higher prices for long products in 2026.

However, some market participants are still unsure about the possibility of a new price increase, as the level of demand in the country remains low, Fastmarkets reported.

During the week up to Friday, market sources estimated an acceptable price level for wire rod at about 2600-2650 zlotys (722-736 USD) per ton of CPT, as in the previous assessment period.

The weekly price estimate for steel rod (drawing quality) supplied to Poland, according to Fastmarkets, was 2600-2650 zlotys per ton on Friday, unchanged week to week.

Prices for Polish rebar, meanwhile, also remained stable during the week until Friday.

Estimates of an acceptable level were announced at the level of about 2400-2450 zlotys per ton of CPT, the same as in the previous week. It was also reported about the offer at a price of 2420 zloty per ton without VAT.

.

Thus, Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for steel rebar domestic production, cpt Poland, amounted to 2400-2450 zlotys per ton, also unchanged week to week.
