Liberty sheet rolling plant in Dalzell resumes its work

Liberty Steel's Dalzell sheet-rolling plant in Motherwell, Scotland, has resumed operations under a government order, according to Callanish.

A Liberty representative says that Dalzell is "fulfilling the order of the British government as a basis for resuming its activities by purchasing slabs from British Steel."

The press secretary adds: "We intend to increase production in the coming months through a number of separate projects."

It is believed that the plant's employees have been on vacation for some time, and its work has been suspended since mid-2024.

Earlier, in 2025, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was "horrified" by Dalzell's inaction.
