The European HRC market is quiet due to the end-of-year holidays

Prices for hot-rolled steel coils in Europe remained unchanged on Wednesday, December 31, amid a lull in trading, as most participants did not work on the market due to the holidays.

The daily HRC steel quality index from Fastmarkets in the domestic market, excluding shipments to Northern Europe, amounted to 627.50 euros (738.13 dollars) per ton on Wednesday, unchanged from December 24.

The indicator did not change week-on-week, but increased by 12.50 euros per ton on a monthly basis.

The latest official offers from the plants of Northern Europe for February/March were published with the delivery of HRC at a price of 630-670 euros per ton from the factory or with delivery. But market price estimates were still below 630 euros per ton from the manufacturer.

The daily HRC steel price index from Fastmarkets in the domestic market, with delivery to Italy on Wednesday, amounted to 623.12 euros per ton from the factory, also unchanged from December 24.

The indicator was unchanged from the previous week, but increased by 20.62 euros per ton on a monthly basis. According to the latest estimates, acceptable levels were at the level of 610-620 euros per ton from the plant.
