Holiday lull keeps calm in European HRC steel market
According to Fastmarkets, on Friday, January 2, trading in the domestic European hot-rolled steel coil market was still quiet due to the ongoing lull due to the New Year holidays.
Most of the sources Fastmarkets contacted during the day said they would not be on the market until next week.
The daily HRC index for Fastmarkets steel in the domestic market, exports to Northern Europe on Friday amounted to 627.50 euros (735.50 US dollars) per ton, unchanged from December 24.
The indicator did not change week-on-week, but increased by 9.17 euros per ton on a monthly basis.
The latest official offers from the plants of Northern Europe for February/March were published with the delivery of HRC at a price of 630-670 euros per ton from the factory or with delivery. But, according to estimates, the market value was still below 630 euros per ton from the factory.
.The daily HRC index for Fastmarkets steel produced domestically, with delivery to Italy, was calculated on Friday at 623.12 euros per ton, which also has not changed since December 24.
The indicator also remained unchanged week-on-week, but increased by 19.99 euros per ton on a monthly basis.
