EU tariffs on apartments in Turkey are closing fast, pipes
The export of flat rolled products from Turkey to the EU is practically closed until the end of the first quarter, while most of the volumes in the first quarter have already been suspended pending distribution.
Meanwhile, quotas for pipe products were effectively spent during the first working days of the year, Kallanish notes.
In contrast, long products and stainless steel still retain some trading opportunities, according to the EU customs portal.
More than 312,000 tons of hot rolled sheet and strip are currently awaiting distribution, with only 81,127 tons remaining available, equivalent to 21% of the quarterly quota of 393,978 tons for Turkey's largest flat rolled product category.
Cold-rolled sheet and flat coated products are even more dense, while their availability is limited to 7% for CR-sheet, 9% for metal-coated sheet and 6% for organic-coated sheet.
The supply of tin mill products is already greatly overestimated, and the volume of orders exceeded the quarterly quota by almost 4,000 tons.
A similar situation is observed with Turkish pipes: gas pipes, hollow profiles and large-sized welded pipes exceed their quarterly standards and demonstrate negative availability.
In contrast, long products retain a higher availability: commodity bars and light profiles are available at a quota of 66%, corners and profiled profiles - by 59%, rebar - by 40%, wire rod - by 32%.
The cold-rolled sheet and stainless steel strip remain virtually untouched: 96% of the quarterly quota is still available, while the production of railway materials remains almost completely open (99%).
