Domestic steel prices in Poland are stable, the market is returning after the holiday holidays

Domestic prices in Poland for steel rebar and wire rod remained unchanged during the week to Friday, January 9 due to low activity levels, as market participants are still returning to the market after the end-of-year holidays, Fastmarkets reported.

According to trading sources, the market has not fully recovered from the break yet, and further movement is expected in the next few days.

During the evaluation period, estimates of acceptable prices for high-quality wire rod for drawing were announced at the level of 2600-2650 zlotys (721-735 US dollars) per ton of CPT.

Meanwhile, before Christmas, the latest proposals were announced at the level of about 2650 zlotys per ton of CPT.

Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for domestic steel rod (drawing quality) supplied from Poland on Friday was 2600-2650 zlotys per ton, unchanged from the end of November.

Rebar prices were also unchanged in the week leading up to Friday, as the market remains tense after the holidays and due to low demand during the winter months, according to trade sources.

One of the sources in the market reported the sale of 100 tons of rebar at a price of 2430 zlotys per ton without VAT during the evaluation period, and also reported on the received offers at a price of about 2420 zlotys per ton without VAT.

But due to the low liquidity in the market after the holidays and due to the fact that most market participants stayed on the sidelines during the valuation week, the Fastmarkets valuation did not change.

Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for steel rebar, domestic, cpt Poland, on Friday was 2400-2450 zlotys per ton, unchanged for the month.
