Swedish production volume is declining, SSAB will replace key bridge

Swedish factories produced 331,000 tons of steel in November 2025, down 3.2% from the same period last year, according to Kallanish from the country's steel producers federation.

The drop in November compared to the same period last year was more significant than in the same period last year. From January to November, Sweden produced a total of 3,640,000 tons of steel, which is 1.4% less than in the same period in 2024.

The production statistics compiled by Jernkontoret are based on data from eleven crude steel plants in Sweden.

Meanwhile, the federation has also revealed SSAB's plans to replace the old Mjalga Bridge over the Dalalven River in Borleng.

The service life of the existing bridge, which is key for transporting steel in the SSAB industrial area, has come to an end. It will be replaced by two new bridges – a railway and a road bridge with pedestrian and bicycle paths. The project will start in 2027 and will last two to three years.
