The UK Department of Commerce will review safety measures regarding quarto aluminum plates.

The UK Consumer Protection Authority has begun checking the possible termination of protective measures against aluzinc, aluminized sheet steel and quarto rolled products, Kallanish notes from the published documents.

These products belong to categories 4 and 7. TRA is expected to release its statement on the proposed definition in early February 2026, with any findings effective from April 1.

This followed a review of tariff quotas requested in a statement from the International Steel Trade Association (ISTA), which noted the "apparent absence of any domestic production" of products in the UK.

In a note to its members, the ISTA acknowledges that the timing leaves limited scope for imports before the effective protective measures expire on July 1, but the review may contribute to the exclusion of these products from any future replacement measures.

Market participants can register their interest by January 25 as part of a simplified registration process aimed at encouraging broader participation, TRA notes.
