Voestalpine orders bags to Istanbul warehouse, expanding storage technology

Voestalpine Steel company's metalworking division has announced a large order for high bay warehouse systems for sporting goods for a Turkish logistics service provider in Istanbul, Kallanish reports.

The order includes the construction of a warehouse with high floors and an automated warehouse for small parts. It will be almost 40 meters high, 222 meters long and 86 meters wide, and will be made from bent profiles custom-made at the division's factory in Krems, Austria.

It is noted that with a total order volume of about 41 million euros (48 million dollars) This is the company's largest order for warehouse systems to date.

The Metalworking division uses profiles, pipes, and precision strip steel in its warehouse systems, as well as ready-to-install system components made from pressed, stamped, and bent parts.

In the Netherlands, the construction of two 45-meter-high warehouses for the furniture retailer JYSK distribution center was recently completed. Another similar project is currently being implemented for a retail company in the UK. The new equipment, a fully automated pallet racking system, reaches a height of 30 meters and includes thousands of storage areas for palletized and small loads.

The Austrian company says it plans to further develop its global operations in the field of data storage systems. In fiscal year 2024/25, a specially designed manufacturing facility was built in Kentucky, which voestalpine says will be expanded with additional systems in the current fiscal year.
