Tubos Reunidos develops seamless pipes for the hydrogen project
Spanish seamless pipe supplier Tubos Reunidos (TR) is developing a seamless pipe capable of meeting the specific requirements of the hydrogen sector. As part of its participation in the H2SKID project, the company aims to support the expansion of the use of "green" hydrogen and industrial decarbonization in Spain, says Callanish.
The aim of the project is to develop an experimental portable electrolyzer with a capacity of 1.25 MW, conceived as an effective solution for providing end-industrial consumers with environmentally friendly hydrogen. The initiative is led by a Basque consortium that includes Tubos Reunidos, ArcelorMittal Sestao, Sarralle, ABC Compresores, Matz — Erreka, Flubetech Coatings, Mugape, Sener, Team Group, Torraval Cooling and Zigor Corporación.
"The performance of materials in a hydrogen environment is an essential factor in ensuring the safety, reliability and durability of industrial infrastructure, which makes this contribution important for converting technological innovations into solutions ready for use in real conditions," TR said in a statement. "Through initiatives such as this, the Group is strengthening its role as a technology partner in developing advanced industrial solutions that drive the transition to energy and enhance industrial competitiveness."
The H2SKID project will confirm the use of environmentally friendly hydrogen under controlled conditions in the area of preheating ladle burners and/or tunnel furnaces in ArcelorMittal Sestao.
