The UK continues to apply anti-dumping measures against Chinese flat rolled products
The UK government has decided to extend the existing anti-dumping duty on flat rolled products of Chinese origin and maintain existing measures.
According to an announcement released by the Consumer Protection Authority (TRA), these measures will be in effect for five years, starting on January 30, 2021.
In accordance with this decision, the anti-dumping duty rates applied to flat rolled products imported from China to the UK are also maintained. The products exported by Valin Group are subject to a duty of 7.9%, while the rate for all other Chinese exporters remains at 24.0%. Valin Group products are processed under the A930 code, while other exporters use the additional A999 code.
These measures apply to hot-rolled and rolled flat rolled products in rolls with irregular winding, made of cast iron, non-alloy steel or alloy steel, with the exception of stainless steel. These products are classified according to the UK global tariff codes. 7213 10 00, 7213 20 00, 7213 91 10, 7213 91 20, 7213 91 41, 7213 91 49, 7213 91 70, 7213 91 90, 7213 99 10, 7213 99 90, 7227 10 00, 7227 20 00, 7227 90 10, 7227 90 50 and 7227 90 95.
The authorities said the decision was made based on estimates indicating that the British flat-rolled steel industry would continue to suffer or suffer repeated damage if the anti-dumping measures stopped. In this context, current measures are aimed at maintaining the competitiveness of domestic producers.
