EU protective steel quotas increased in the first quarter, and Turkey is close to exhausting its quota for HRC steel

In the last month of the EU quota period from January 1 to March 31, some import quotas for certain steel products allocated to Turkey, Algeria, Vietnam, India, Japan, South Korea and China have already been exhausted, while more than 75 percent of quotas for certain types of steel products have already been exhausted. As for the other quotas allocated to Turkey, the country has exhausted its quota of 43,033 thousand tons for CRC (allocated in the "other countries" section), its quota of 97,074 thousand tons for wire rod and 1,715 thousand tons for railway materials, as well as its quota of 37 698 thousand tons for other welded pipes. In addition, the country used 97.59% of its quota of 393,977 tons for the production of HRC (1A).

If we look at other exhausted quotas, Algeria used its entire quota of 110,266 tons for HRC (1A), while India used its entire quota of 77,805 tons for organic coated sheets and 18,833 tons for gas pipes. South Korea has exhausted its quota of 5,219 tons for the production of corners and profiles, while China has used up its entire quota of 8,367 tons for the production of large-size welded pipes (25B).

Meanwhile, Vietnam has exhausted its quotas for the supply of 43,033,000 tons and 10,608,000 tons of CRC and organic coated sheets, respectively, while Japan has used up its entire quota of 7,347,000 tons for the production of tin products. All of the above quotas are distributed in the "other countries" section.

In addition, Taiwan used 98.22% and 95.93% of its quota of 11,266 tons for the production of CRC and 116,832 tons for the production of metal-coated sheets (4A), respectively, which were classified as "other countries". South Korea has exhausted 78.28%, 86.23%, 90.23% and 97.56% of its quota of 38,622 million tons for the production of electrical sheets (3B), 37,148 million tons for the production of metal-coated sheets (4A), 164,743 million tons for the production of metal-coated sheets (4B) and 15,944 million tons. tons for the production of tin products, respectively. China exhausted 99.79% of its quota of 30,628 tons for the production of electrical sheets (3B), while the UK used 90.02% of its quota of 35,001 tons for the production of metal-coated sheets (4A). Malaysia used 99.99% of its quota of 14,924 tons for wire rod, while Macedonia exhausted 80.07% and 88.55% of its quotas of 6,955 tons for gas pipes and 25,948 tons for hollow profiles, respectively.
