SSAB has published a report for 2025: Leadership in the production of environmentally friendly steel and accelerating strategic transformation
SSAB has published its annual report for 2025, which presents both financial indicators and progress made in the transition to fossil fuel-free steel production. The report, published on March 17, 2026, highlights that despite weak global steel demand and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, the company remains committed to its strategic goals, translating its vision of environmentally friendly steel into a real business model.
The company's financial results indicate relatively stable performance in difficult market conditions. SSAB reported that total revenue for 2025 was SEK 96.2 billion, and operating profit (EBIT) reached SEK 6.1 billion. Earnings per share amounted to SEK 4.92, and the board of directors proposed to pay a dividend of SEK 2.00 per share. The significant operating cash flow of SEK 7.6 billion indicates the company's stable balance sheet, while officials emphasize that the premium product strategy and geographical diversification have helped offset the impact of lower market prices.
In terms of market positioning, SSAB has maintained its leadership in the high-strength steel (AHSS) segment, accounting for an estimated 20% of the global market. The company continues to enjoy high customer loyalty thanks to brands such as Hardox and Strenx, which allows it to offer products with higher added value. Premium products accounted for 55% of total shipments, which continues to be a key factor in margin growth.
. As part of its strategy to Accelerate Leadership in the Premium segment, SSAB has updated its targets to increase the share of premium products to 65% by 2030 and 75% by 2035. The company has also made progress in improving operational efficiency, reaching its lowest ever time-loss injury rate of 0.56 in 2025, reflecting the continuous improvement in safety and efficiency of its operations.
Investments in non-fossil fuel steel production remain central to SSAB's transformation strategy. According to the plan, a new electric arc furnace (EDP) is being built at the plant in Oxelesund, Sweden, to replace blast furnaces, which is expected to begin operation in early 2027. Meanwhile, the Luleå mini-plant project stands out for its environmental impact, as it has the potential to reduce Sweden's total carbon dioxide emissions by about 7% upon completion.
Strategic partnerships across the entire value chain were also highlighted in the report. Volvo
