He also stated that the European Union exports about 2 million tons of steel to Turkey annually, adding that this corresponds to 13% of the total EU steel exports sent to Turkey. He stressed that the current volume of trade reflects the mutual dependence of both sides, but noted that it began to decline due to quotas and anti-dumping duties. Feger also stated that the rules under the Carbon Emissions Regulation Mechanism (CBAM) have complicated the situation, adding that the lack of clarity regarding tax obligations for buyers this year and next has increased uncertainty about the mechanism. Despite these difficulties, Feger stressed the importance of further developing relations between Turkey and the European Union in the field of steel production, noting that the association of industry professionals at such events supports civic initiatives and contributes to strengthening trade relations through the exchange of ideas.
