ArcelorMittal supplies XCarb as part of Daimler's reEconic truck manufacturing project
ArcelorMittal is contributing to Daimler Truck's reEconic initiative by supplying recycled and renewable grades of XCarb steel for key vehicle components, according to Callanish from the concern.
The project brings together 33 partners across the automotive value chain and explores how circular economy principles can be integrated into trucks using highly recyclable materials. ArcelorMittal's contributions include S500MC chassis rails and S355MC body components
.The truck is designed to maximize the use of recycled materials, as well as meet the high performance, durability, and safety requirements of heavy-duty vehicles.
The attached study, certified by TUV, shows that up to 80% of key materials, including steel, aluminum, glass and plastics, can potentially have a circular origin, based on the components already used and additional projections.
