Primetals Technologies has introduced a new electric arc furnace

Primetals Technologies has announced its new generation arc furnace solution "EAF Ultimate Move", designed for the production of electrical steel. The company said that the new model, based on 40 years of experience with an electric arc furnace, is designed to combine high productivity with low capital costs. It was noted that the EAF Ultimate Move combines the strengths of the company's existing EAF Ultimate and EAF Quantum models, providing maximum flexibility, especially for new projects. The new solution is designed to meet the needs of investors moving to the production of electrical steel, focused on capital expenditures. From a technical point of view, the EAF Ultimate Move provides shorter downtime and occupies a smaller footprint. It also provides benefits such as reduced maintenance requirements and lower overall capital costs. As this new technology expanded the range of the company's electric steelmaking facilities, it was emphasized that the various EDP designs still meet different production needs. The statement emphasizes that the EAF Ultimate Move is suitable for manufacturers seeking maximum flexibility without compromising product quality, and the EAF Ultimate concept, supported by network active power and advanced automation, offers a suitable solution for upgrading existing installations. On the other hand, manufacturers continue to prefer the EAF Quantum model, focusing on ultra-low consumption rates, scrap-based charge mixtures and preheating of scrap and hot-rolled cast iron (HBI). Hans — Joerg Krassnig commented: "It is natural for Primetals Technologies to combine the most advantageous features and take established EDP technology to a new level. Thanks to our latest development, EAF Ultimate Move, which complements our EAF portfolio along with EAF Quantum and EAF Ultimate, any type of charge material, including blast furnace cast iron, can be processed in any combination." It was also stated that thanks to the technology inspired by EAF Quantum technology, the furnace body can be moved towards the exhaust zone, which provides a more compact installation design, simplifies maintenance and reduces capital costs for auxiliary equipment such as crane systems and building height. This design is made possible by a movable support frame and an adapted hydraulic tilt system. The EAF Ultimate Move system also includes features such as single bucket control, single-point roof rotation, and an advanced slag-free exhaust (FAST) system. The FAST system allows drilling and plugging
