Prices for long positions in Bulgaria have remained largely unchanged due to balanced demand and sufficient reserves.
The Bulgarian long paper market maintained relatively stable dynamics this week, as balanced demand and sufficient stock availability continued to limit significant price fluctuations on the part of both suppliers and traders.
Although overall trading activity remains somewhat subdued, market participants report that regular buying activity continues, which helps the market maintain its current stability. In addition, the lack of new imports further contributed to the relatively stable market conditions in Bulgaria. Market sources note that raw materials of European origin are becoming less preferred due to rising prices in neighboring markets, while offers from non-EU suppliers are becoming more limited after previous orders, especially amid ongoing CBAM-related pressures and reduced quota volumes. Under these conditions, both local producers and traders have largely maintained their previous reasonable prices, although traders are reportedly still willing to accept discounts when delivering larger shipments.
In the local market, rebar prices from both manufacturers and traders are currently around 640-650 euros per ton without VAT, while wire rod prices are reported to be around 680-690 euros per ton without VAT.
With imports in this segment, fresh goods purchasing activity remains very limited, as it is believed that most buyers have enough inventory for previous orders, and they continue to purchase materials on site when needed. In the segment of imports from non-EU countries, prices for Turkish rebar are currently estimated at about 590-605 US dollars per ton on FOB terms, which, after adding transportation costs of about 20-25 euros per ton, corresponds to about 525-545 euros per ton in Bulgaria. Meanwhile, Egyptian suppliers are estimated to offer rebar at a price of about 600-610 dollars per ton on FOB terms, and wire rod at about 620-625 dollars per ton on FOB terms. Considering that the cost of transportation is about 25-30 euros per ton, theoretically these levels will correspond to about 535-550 euros per ton of rebar and 555-565 euros per ton of wire rod. However, despite the relatively attractive theoretical level, no new orders have been received recently from either Turkish or Egyptian suppliers.
As for imports from EU countries, according to sources, recently there have been proposals for the supply of fittings of Italian origin to Bulgaria at a price of about 635-645 euros per ton, while prices for fittings of Romanian origin
