Guta Czestochowa has signed an agreement to support the supply chain of the Polish defense industry
The Polish steel company Huta Częstochowa, a subsidiary of the Polish coking coal exporter Węglokoks, has signed a cooperation agreement aimed at supporting the development of a supply chain for the Polish defense industry, the Polish Ministry of National Defense said in a statement.
In addition, as part of a broader restructuring and strategic plans for the plant's development, the Polish military Property agency is expected to become a co-owner of Huta Częstochowa. This step is aimed at strengthening government involvement in steel production and providing long-term production facilities for the production of strategically important steel products used in the defense sector. The planned ownership structure reflects Poland's growing focus on protecting critical industrial assets related to national security and military production.
The Government emphasizes the importance of industrial sovereignty
Officials involved in the agreement stressed the importance of maintaining domestic steelmaking capacity and ensuring reliable access to strategic materials.
The initiative is part of Poland's broader efforts to:
Strengthening industrial sovereignty, increasing the production capacity of the defense complex, and reducing dependence on imports of strategic products.
Huta Częstochowa continues to restore its production activities
The agreement was signed due to the fact that Huta Częstochowa continues to restore production volumes and market activity after previous production and financial difficulties. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the company's steel production recently exceeded 500,000 tons under the current management structure, reflecting ongoing operational stabilization.
