German crude oil production is on the rise, but caution prevails

German factories continued the trend of previous months in April, increasing steel production by 9.5% compared to April 2025, to 3.2 million tons.

In the first four months of this year, the year-on-year growth was 9.1% compared to the corresponding period in 2025, according to Kallanish from the national Federation of Steel Manufacturers WV Stahl

WV highlights the increase in production at oxygen plants, which in April amounted to 10.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 2.2 million tons. EDP steel production increased by 7.1% to 1.0 million tons. The trend becomes even more noticeable if you look at the figures for four months: oxygen steel production increased by 11% compared to the same period last year to 8.6 million tons, and EDP steel production increased by 5.8% to 3.9 million tons.

The latest data confirms the federation's claims about the steady stabilization of steel production in Germany. But it also indicates that the factories have not yet returned to normal operation. For the whole year, the current production level will reach 37.5 million tons, with a significant lag of up to 40 million tons, which is considered the threshold for profitable operation of the plants.
