The German waste recycling associations BSV and VDM are merging into the Circular Metal Association

The German Association for Steel Processing and Recycling (BSV) and the German Association of Metal Dealers and Processors of Secondary Raw Materials (VDM) have announced the signing of a merger agreement that creates the legal basis for the creation of the Circular Metal Association (CMA).

The new organization will act as the sole representative of the German steel and metalworking industries at the national, European and international levels.

The merger is expected to take effect in the coming weeks.

The merger will take effect after its registration in the Register of Associations, and this process is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Until then, both organizations will continue to operate within their existing structures.

After registration, the BSV and VDM will cease to exist as independent legal entities, and all rights, duties, and memberships will be transferred to the CMA.

The CMA will represent the entire waste recycling supply chain.

The Circular Metal Association will represent the entire production and distribution chain of steel production and metal recycling, including collection, processing, trade and supply for the metalworking industry. His field of activity will also cover trade in primary metals, ferroalloys and special metals.

According to the associations, the CMA aims to strengthen the sector's representation before German politicians, as well as European institutions, including the European Parliament and the European Commission. The organization will also represent the industry in international organizations such as Recycling Europe and the International Bureau of Waste Management (BIR).
