,In Germany and the Benelux countries, it is estimated that the current price level for hot-rolled coils with delivery is approximately 730 euros per ton (842 US dollars per ton), and with lower volumes of supply, it is slightly higher than 700 euros per ton. "I have not heard that any major deals are being negotiated, either now or over the past two weeks," one trader tells Callanish.
According to the service center manager, the price offers range from 730 to 760 euros per ton, but even a lower price cannot be translated into resale prices at which his customers are willing to buy. Therefore, buyers refrain from making large purchases to replenish stocks.
"Right now, like everyone else, I'm in standby mode until the last reel ends," he says.
The low values observed in June are behind us, but the growth has stopped, not reaching the previous highs recorded in April and May, says the buyer of the construction company.
He also sees no reason to expect growth in the coming weeks, "when people are on vacation." According to his forecast, the plants will try to raise prices again, probably by 25-30 euros per ton, at the end of August. "But I wonder if the demand from large consumers will be such that it would be possible to demand an increase. I think the chances are slim," he says.
