According to a preliminary estimate by Eurostat, in July, production in the construction sector of the eurozone countries remained at the level of June, seasonally adjusted. In annual terms, the indicator decreased by 2%.
In June, the volume of construction production in the eurozone decreased by 1.5% compared to the previous month.
In the European Union as a whole, construction production in July decreased by 0.3% month-on-month and by 1.8% year-on-year. In June, the monthly decline was 1.3%.
In terms of types of work in the eurozone, the volume of construction of buildings in July remained unchanged compared to June, but decreased by 6.4% year-on-year. In the civil engineering segment, the indicator increased by 0.6% both compared to the previous month and to July last year.
Among the countries for which data are available, the largest growth compared to June was recorded in Belgium — by 2.8%, in the Czech Republic — by 2.1% and in Slovakia — by 1.9%. The most noticeable decrease was noted in Hungary — by 4.7%, in Poland and Sweden — by 3.8%, as well as in Austria — by 2.2%.
Compared to July last year, the volume of construction work increased by 12.8% in Finland, 11.6% in Slovenia and 4.8% in Bulgaria. The decrease was recorded in Hungary — by 12.2%, in Spain — by 9.7% and in France — by 5%.
