Italian ABS — Acciaierie Bertoli Safau SpA, a manufacturer of SBQ quality specialty steels, opened a new distribution and service center in Vernamo, Sweden last week.
According to the company, this step should strengthen its position not only as a manufacturer of special steels, but also as an industrial partner working closer to the end user. The new complex combines warehouse operations, metalworking, logistics and metallurgical consulting.
The new facility was named ABS Steel Nordic. It occupies about 25,000 square meters, of which 5,500 square meters. m falls on a newly constructed building. Structural, high-strength and tempered steels, free-cutting steel and microalloyed grades will be stored here.
The company has installed cutting equipment designed for processing products from 10 to 560 mm thick.
Vernamo will become the center of ABS's Scandinavian business. The company announced the creation of the ABS Steel Nordic division and the construction of a service center from scratch last November at the Elmia Subcontractor exhibition.
"We have been working here in Sweden through our own company since 2012, but now we are making very large investments," Eric Lennermark, executive director of ABS Steel Nordic, is quoted as saying by Elmia.
He added that ABS is the second largest SBQ supplier in Northern Europe with annual sales of about 55,000 tons.
