In the first half of 2026, Italy exported about 4.66 million tons of flat and long products. This is 0.5% more than in the same period of 2025, when the volume of supplies was 4.64 million tons. In monetary terms, exports reached about 3.84 billion euros, an increase of 2.8% from 3.73 billion euros a year earlier.
Exports of flat rolled products for the reporting period amounted to 2.03 million tons, which is 11.9% less than a year earlier, when the figure was 2.30 million tons. The cost of supplies in this segment decreased by 5.5% to about 1.88 billion euros from 1.99 billion euros in the first half of 2025. At the same time, the average price increased by 7.2% and increased from 867 to 929 euros per ton.
The opposite trend was observed in the segment of long products. Exports increased by 12.7% and reached 2.63 million tons in the first six months of the year. The cost of supplies increased by 12.5% to about 1.95 billion euros compared to 1.74 billion euros a year earlier. At the same time, the average price remained almost unchanged and decreased from 743 to 742 euros per ton.
The calculation is based on Istat data on Italian steel exports to the global market. The analysis takes into account the categories of HS 7208-7212 for flat rolled products and 7213-7217 for long products.
