Indian giant sets new record for steel production

According to the results of the 2024/2025 financial year (ended March 31, 2025), the Indian steel company Tata Steel increased steel production in India by 4.3% YoY to 21.7 million tons. As noted, the indicator is the highest in the company's history. This is stated in the relevant financial report of the company.

Consolidated steel output in the specified period increased by 3.3% YoY to 30.9 million tons.

According to T. V. Narendran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Steel, 2024/2025 has become an important transition period for the company.

Shipments to the UK in 2024/2025 amounted to about 2.5 million tons, as the company smoothly switched to shipping products to customers based on imported billets processed at Tata Steel plants. The volume of shipments in the Netherlands during the specified period amounted to approximately 6.25 million tons.

The consolidated volume of shipments for the fiscal year 2024/2025 amounted to 30.96 million tons (+5.3% YoY).

Tata Steel's consolidated revenue for the 2024/2025 fiscal year was about $26 billion, and EBITDA was $3.1 billion.

He said that the company is focused on reducing costs to improve competitiveness and has already achieved some results, particularly in the UK.

Chatterjee noted that the electric arc furnace project in the UK is progressing according to plan with the conclusion of key contracts with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), obtaining planning permits, and construction is likely to begin by July 2025. Intensive discussions are continuing with the Dutch Government on a comprehensive decarbonization and environmental measures project.
