ArcelorMittal signs XCarb deals in Germany and Switzerland
ArcelorMittal has signed two new partnership agreements with manufacturers in Germany and Switzerland for the production of low-emission XCarb steel.
In Germany, ArcelorMittal Steel Service Centers Europe will supply XCarb to Wolf Gmbh, a manufacturer of heating and air conditioning solutions. Wolf will offer XCarb as an option for a number of its air conditioning systems. Its customers will receive documentation with all the data on CO2 content and production path, which will provide end users with transparency for their own sustainability goals, says a Wolf representative.
In Switzerland, a steel manufacturer cooperates with Burri Public Elements to supply steel for the production of the "Landi" bench, which the Swiss company has been producing since 1939. In collaboration with ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Altensteig and local processor Kindlmann, the company has developed an eco-friendly version of the iconic bench for public spaces.
In the summer of 2024, Burri began a test run of its XCarb steel stand to evaluate its properties. "The steel could be bent, welded and coated without any problems," says Burri partner Stefan Bachmann.
