Interpipe supplied specialized micropals for bridge reconstruction in Slovakia
The Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has supplied specialized micropali for the reconstruction of a bridge in Slovakia.
The facility is undergoing major repairs as part of the modernization of the 15-kilometer section of the railway connection between Poprad and Vydrnik, which is carried out by the Slovak Railway. This was announced by the company's press service.
The use of standard piles proved ineffective due to the difficult soil conditions in the region. Therefore, Interpipe proposed an alternative solution-pipes with a diameter of 108 mm, used as compact micro-pipes. The project required S355J2 structural steel, which is widely used in construction and mechanical engineering due to its balance of strength, weldability and impact resistance.
"Railway bridges can withstand the weight of numerous freight and passenger trains and must remain safe in operation for decades. The design is crucial for the long-term integrity of the bridge. Micro–piles can withstand the same loads as traditional piles, while requiring significantly less effort to prepare the soil," said Vitaly Sinelnikov, Pipe Sales Manager for European markets.
Sinelnikov added that Interpipe has already supplied similar piles to several construction contractors in France who are facing the same problem.
The company also recalled that they have extensive experience in participating in global infrastructure projects, from airport terminals in Tenerife to exhibition halls in Dubai.
